Violin & Viola Instructor at Houston Conservatory of Music
Alejandro Sanmiguel is a Venezuelan violinist, violist, and music educator with more than 17 years of experience in instrumental performance and music education. Born in Valencia, Venezuela, he began his musical training in 2009 at the Conservatory of Music of Carabobo, where he studied violin and viola alongside a comprehensive academic curriculum that included music theory, music history, harmony, and counterpoint. He performed as both a violinist and violist with the Youth Orchestra of the Carabobo Music Conservatory and the Carabobo Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro José Calabrese, developing into a versatile musician with a strong understanding of music theory, notation, and ensemble performance.
After establishing his musical career in Texas, Alejandro has continued to perform with several orchestras throughout the region, including the Echo Orchestra and the Baytown Symphony Orchestra, and more recently the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, where he performs as both a violinist and violist under the direction of Dr. Marcelo Bussiki.
Alejandro also has extensive experience in music education. He spent three years within the Spring Branch ISD middle school music program, specializing in the instruction of bowed string instruments, and prepared students for regional competitions, Solo & Ensemble events, and UIL assessments and performances. He currently continues his violin studies under Maestro Eddy Marcano, renowned Venezuelan concertmaster violinist and orchestra director, and performs as a member of the string orchestra of Intempo Dance Symphonic Ballet.
Alongside his performance career, Alejandro is dedicated to helping students develop strong technical foundations, musical understanding, discipline, and artistic expression. He is a self-motivated and adaptable musician who values both independent work and collaboration, with artistic interests that extend beyond music to photography and technology, and a particular passion for both classical and contemporary music.
